Who are the Jews? And what do they look like. This documentary, set in contemporary Spain, unravels the history and mutations of Judeophobia, from the Christian denunciation until the emergence of the modern State of Israel. The ignorance and rejection of Judaism are still present in many sectors of our society. The Estigma proposes to challenge key ideas inherited from centuries of misunderstanding and intolerance that deserve to be rethought. A timely film about a very relevant topic.

In spite of its local focus, The Stigma? will support study of the larger topics involved, such as European history, modern Judaism, or discrimination in general. It’s worth purchasing for the opening scene alone, where a man explains how he feels accepted as a homosexual, but prefers not to reveal himself as Jewish. This powerful, informative film will be sure to provoke discussion. For the entire review by EMRO, check:
