Rachel's Tomb is located in Bethlehem and is an Israeli enclave within the Palestinian Authority. According to legend, this is where Patriarch Jacob's wife Rachel was buried. Jews, and especially Jewish women, see Rachel as the holiest of Jewish mothers; a mother on whose shoulder you can cry on in times of need. Mention of Rachel in the Qur'an does not carry the same importance and many Muslims see her as a prostitute who stole the heart of her husband Jacob.

in the early 90's Evelyn Hayes became captivated by Rachel and using her own money, this Brooklyn-born Jew purchased a house in the Rachel's Tomb compound. But the troubles she encounters are many and the struggle comes from an unexpected place – the Yeshiva vying for her piece of property. In this unlikely battle, Jewish women are fighting for their right to pray and carve out a space of their own. In an unlikely turn of events, the efforts of the conflict are not only with the Palestinian neighbors, but with the Jewish men who seek to control this holy site.
