Biblical tradition identifies the general area of Shechem as the resting-place of the biblical patriarch Joseph, now located on the outskirts of Nablus, near the Balata Refugee Camp. Within the complex lies also the tomb of the Muslim Sheikh Yusuf Dawiqat.

Over the years the place has claimed a high price in the form of Jewish and Muslim blood. Only after the Oslo Agreement did the two sides reach a mutual understanding. Jewish worshipers arrive at night to avoid possible friction between observant Jews and the Palestinian population. They arrive in armored vehicles, and in an ecstatic trance, accompanied by singing and dancing, they cry out for the redemption of the Jewish people. A real hot-spot, this film illuminates the complex logistics of just one sacred location.
